Qasidah burdah in urdu3/31/2024 ![]() When the dream concluded, Busiri found himself completely healed, and the poem became known as Qasidat al-Burdah. Busiri recited the poem and when he came to the couplet that states: “ How many illnesses were healed by his touch”, the Prophet (SAW) rubbed his blessed hands and cloak (Ar. The Messenger (SAW) asked him to recite the poem he had composed. Upon completing the poem, he was honoured by the vision of the Messenger (SAW). When all means to heal failed, he decided to intercede to the Almighty through His beloved Prophet (SAW) by composing an Ode poem in praising him. Busiri had been afflicted with paralysis. Why so? Perhaps due to the sincerity of it’s composer, the 12 thcentury Egyptian poet-scholar-mystic Imam al-Busiri. Yet none achieved the name and fame of the glorious Burdah! Thereafter, poets and lovers in every generation of Muslims composed such poems. The Andalusian Imam Ibn-Sayyid al-Nas compiled 100 such poems by the Sahabahin his Minah al-Mad’h. This genre of poetry is called Madihin Arabic, Naat-Sharifin Urdu and Ode in English. ![]() The Qasidah al-Burdah is undisputedly the most renowned poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
